What Is EFT?
EFT, also known as emotional freedom technique or tapping, is a therapeutic technique that involves tapping on specific acupressure points on the body while focusing on a specific issue or emotion. This technique is used to release negative emotions, reduce stress and anxiety, and promote healing.
EFT works by addressing where emotions live in the body. If you think about it, thoughts live in our mind, but emotion, feelings, live in the body. To underscore this point, all you have to do is bring something scary, or sad, etc., to mind. Instantly, if you are paying close attention, you will experience changes in how your body feels.
Like it or not, your body is an electro-chemical factory! Cells work by firing off electro-chemical changes that cause reactions in the form of thoughts and emotions (in addition to many other types of changes). EFT works to shift old patterns of stored energy based on 1), habits, or 2) memories, that trigger unhelpful reactions in the body.
EFT is used to address a wide range of emotional issues, including anxiety, phobias, trauma, depression, or when dealing with difficult emotional experiences (e.g., grief, loss, fear, low-self esteem, heartache, etc.). It can be done individually or with the guidance of a therapist, and can be easily learned and practiced on one's own.
Overall, EFT is a powerful and effective technique for promoting emotional healing and well-being, and can help individuals release negative emotions and find a sense of emotional freedom.
